Victor Thruster K6000 racket review:
Hi guys, first time making a blog about badminton racket that I own or have tried myself. Not a professional player or coach here... Just a young badminton player who has a very big addiction to the sport wanting to share his experiences. I played league games for a club and participated in tournaments throughout (nothing special to boast about here ^^) and would consider myself to be of a intermediate standard looking to continuously improve my health and my level of play! :)
Lets get on with it!
Specs:
- G5 grip size
- Head heavy balance
- Medium flex
- Strung at 26lbs with Carlton Xelerate 67 strings
- 4U 80-85g
Offence:
This racket is categorised in the POWER range according to Victor so I expected the racket to perform outstandingly and without question it has stacks of it.
Smashes are the most satifying feeling with this racket and I'd expect them to always be considering the specs of the racket. Simply amazing.
Since it is a medium flex racket I managed to generate a great deal of power in my smashes, they felt so much easier to use compared to my other head heavy rackets e.g. N90, Voltric 80. (which are sitff rackets requiring a more stronger wrist and arm to smash effectively) This racket therefore made me feel more confident in my smash consistency as I could keep on smashing all day and all night without getting fatigued.
There is a lot of weight in the head which allows me to get a solid feeling in my overheads and knowing how much pace to put in and have a good idea of where the shuttle is going and the flex of the racket allows me to just perform clears and clip drops down confidently even if I was a bit late to the shuttle.
What I love about this racket is that I can just thunder my smash down with a whip action and without much effort needed and every opportunity I get to do so I did not hesitate to drop the bass... They just get soo addictive after you pull of one. Not to mention the angles I get from this are simply amazing, this has probably got something to do with the medium flex but also the catapult technology described by Victor.
Drives are important in doubles and this racket can without a doubt send the shuttle flying across like mini rockets, the amount of times I've caught my opponents off guard with this and be able to follow it up with a net kill are endless... This racket is also pretty light being a 4U version so I had no problem getting into a drive war with anyone...
My backhand clears and backhand in general have also improved from using this racket and I'd assume it would be because I found my new love in head heavy medium flex rackets but also the ease of generating power with this racket...
Defence:
Being a head heavy racket you would expect the defence to drop by quite a big margin but since this racket is a 4U version the lighter weight still allows you to defend considerably well but also still feel confident when turning defence into attack and returning smashes. I was able to turn the rallies when defending with this racket as the weight was just soo manoeuvrable. I'd say those wanting to try a head heavy racket without sacrificing too much in their defensive play should definitely give this one a go. However you can feel the head heavy weight in the racket therefore it may not be as great as most even balanced or head-light rackets... Still this racket manages to defend very well for a head heavy racket.
Summary:
Power and offence play a big part in my game so considering this I knew this racket would fit my style of play but also I had to consider my defensive and finesse shots therefore initially I was worried about the drop in that area. BUT... Out of every head heavy balanced racket I have tried, this one definitely became love at first sight for me it just connected with me instantly and I had no trouble when defending.
The looks of the racket are very attractive mainly in black with yellow on the sides of the frame with very cool specific detail designs on the shaft and frame which make it look awesome... Although other rackets may have a bit more eye-candy than this.
Defence: 9/10
Looks: 8/10
Let me know what you think of my review and you are welcome to ask any questions! Till next time guys...
